Overview

Industrial Evaporative Condenser for Reliable Heat Rejection

An industrial evaporative condenser is designed to remove heat from refrigerant vapor by combining a condenser coil, circulating spray water and mechanical airflow. Unlike conventional air-cooled condensers that depend primarily on dry-bulb air temperature, evaporative condensers use the cooling effect of water evaporation to assist heat rejection.

  • How the Evaporative Condenser Works

High-pressure refrigerant vapor enters the condenser coil and transfers heat through the tube walls to spray water flowing over the outside of the coil. Axial fans move air through the equipment, causing a portion of the water to evaporate and carry heat away.

  • Spray Water Distribution System

Spray nozzles distribute circulating water across the condenser coil surface. Consistent water coverage helps maintain effective heat transfer between the refrigerant, water and moving air.

  • Axial Fans and Airflow Management

The axial fan assembly establishes airflow through the condenser's heat exchange sections. Air movement supports evaporation and carries released heat out of the equipment.

  • PVC Heat Exchange Media

PVC heat exchange media provides additional contact area between air and circulating water. Water passing through the media is cooled before returning to the collection sump, helping maintain the recirculating spray-water process.

  • Water Collection and Recirculation

The lower collection sump stores the circulating spray water. A water pump returns it to the distribution system, while makeup water replenishes water lost through evaporation, drift and blowdown.

  • Applications in Industrial Refrigeration

Evaporative condensers can be used in selected cold storage plants, food processing facilities, industrial cooling installations and refrigeration compressor systems.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an evaporative condenser used for?

An evaporative condenser is used to reject heat from refrigerant in refrigeration systems. It combines circulating spray water and forced airflow to support the condensation of high-pressure refrigerant vapor into liquid.

  • How does an evaporative condenser differ from an air-cooled condenser?

An air-cooled condenser primarily uses ambient air to reject heat, while an evaporative condenser combines airflow with water evaporation. Evaporative cooling can provide lower condensing temperatures under suitable conditions, but requires water supply, treatment and maintenance.ducts.

  • Is this evaporative condenser suitable for cold storage systems?

Yes. Evaporative condensers may be used in cold storage refrigeration systems, provided the equipment is correctly sized and compatible with the selected refrigerant and operating conditions.

  • What are the main components of an evaporative condenser?

Typical components include condenser coils, axial fans, water spray nozzles, circulation pumps, PVC heat exchange media, water collection sumps and drift eliminators.

  • What information is needed to select an evaporative condenser?

Buyers should provide the refrigerant type, required heat rejection capacity, condensing temperature, design wet-bulb temperature, available power supply and installation conditions.
